Innovation Thrives at the 2014 International CES
Major tech breakthroughs, product launches and tech executives garner world's attention
Arlington, Va., January 16, 2014 – With never-before seen tech breakthroughs and thousands of new products launched, innovation took center stage at the 2014 International CES®. Owned and produced by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)®, the 2014 CES ran January 7-10, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“Technology of the future was widespread at the 2014 CES where executives from every major industry came to see, touch, interact and do business at the world’s intersection for innovation,” said Karen Chupka, senior vice president of International CES and corporate business strategy. “Amazing new products emerged in the areas of wireless, apps, automotive, digital health and fitness, 3D printing, startup tech and so much more. It was an incredible event that brought the global tech community together and successfully celebrated and showcased the amazing innovation that is a hallmark of our industry.”

“CES is a tremendous venue to launch new products, meet with customers, press, shareholders and partners,” said Sally Washlow, president of Cobra Electronics.
Other major announcements like the Parrot Jumping Sumo, Sphero Robots and Sonostar’s e-ink Smart Watch debuted in sensor technology, wearable tech, the Internet of things, high-resolution audio and green technology. In total, the 2014 CES featured 25 market-specific TechZones and 15 major product categories.
The International CES attracts highly sought after experts and brings together leaders from a broad array of industries to survey and transact. The 2014 CES featured more than 250 conference sessions and 850 speakers including founders, presidents and CEOs from the following organizations:

Additionally, Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of CEA hosted U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker on the CES stage during the “Innovation: Keeping America Open for Business SuperSession.” And, new Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Tom Wheeler had a one-on-one conversation with Shapiro.
“CES is the world’s crossroad for innovation, strategic partnerships and consumer excitement,” said Joellyn Gray, director of marketing for Fujifilm North America.
Hollywood stars, musicians, sports legends and TV personalities attended the 2014 CES to promote the latest innovations in consumer technologies. Television host, journalist and author Maria Menounosserved as the Entertainment Matters Ambassador for the Entertainment Matters at CES program. Variety’sBreakthrough of the Year Awards celebrated a diverse range of talent from the fields of film, television, music, comedy and more at a premiere red carpet event. Actor, comedian, rapper and radio/TV personality Nick Cannon hosted the awards where Olivia Munn was honored as Breakthrough Actress,Janelle Monae was honored as Breakthrough Music Artist, Amy Schumer was honored for Breakthrough Comedy, and actress Kristen Bell accepted the Breakthrough Film honor on behalf of the film “Veronica Mars.” Other celebrity sightings included: Pharrel Williams, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Shaquille O'Neal, Tim Tebow and more. Plus, Gale Anne Hurd, executive producer, The Walking Dead and Anthony Zuiker, creator and executive producer, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation were both featured CES speakers.
