HP: fastest growing integrated infrastructure systems vendor according to leading market research firm

MIAMI, FL. July, 2014 – According to the International Data Corporation (IDC) “Worldwide Quarterly Integrated Infrastructure and Platforms Tracker, June 2014”, HP was the fastest growing vendor in the integrated infrastructure systems market based on year-over-year revenue growth in the first quarter of 2014. 

The market share data for the Integrated Infrastructure market released by IDC ⁽¹⁾ shows that HP was the fastest growing integrated infrastructure vendor, growing revenue at 178% year over year for a total revenue of $173M USD in Integrated Infrastructure market in the first quarter of 2014. HP’s growth rate was 2.6 times the market and well ahead of other competitors. 

HP gained 5.7 points of revenue share in the Integrated Infrastructure market year over year.

IDC distinguishes between two market segments: Integrated Platforms and Integrated Infrastructure. Integrated Platforms are integrated systems that sold with additional pre-integrated packaged software and customized system engineering optimized to enable such functions as application development software, databases, testing, and integration tools. Integrated Infrastructure systems are designed for general-purpose, distributed workloads that are likely to have differing performance profiles. While integrated infrastructure is similar to integrated platforms in that it will leverage the same infrastructure building blocks, it is not optimized for a specific workload.

HP announced HP ConvergedSystem (aka Sharks) in December 2013 with the HP ConvergedSystem 300 and 700 for Virtualization, ConvergedSystem 300 for Vertica, ConvergedSystem 100 (based on Moonshot), and ConvergedSystem 500 for SAP HANA.
